# Refactor workflow–logic function interaction
## Why
Workflow code steps and standalone logic functions shared the same build
layer and DB layer, which blurred two use cases: code steps belong to a
workflow version; standalone functions are deployable units. That made
workflow code steps harder to own and evolve.
## Goal
Treat code steps as **workflow-owned**: build and run them in workflow
context, and expose workflow-scoped APIs so the editor can load, test,
and save code step source without going through the generic
logic-function layer.
## Implement Navigation Menu Items Frontend
Implements the frontend for navigation menu items, the new system
replacing favorites.
### Changes
- Added GraphQL fragments and queries for navigation menu items
- Added hooks for managing navigation menu items (create, update,
delete, sorting, filtering)
- Updated components to use navigation menu items instead of favorites
- Added test coverage for utility functions
### Migration Note
The favorites and navigation menu item modules currently exist in
parallel. The favorites code will be removed once all data has been
migrated to navigation menu items.

> [!NOTE]
> Replaces Favorites with feature-flagged `NavigationMenuItem` across
frontend and backend, while keeping Favorites as fallback until
migration completes.
>
> - UI: new `navigation-menu-item` components (folders, orphan items,
drag provider/droppable, icons, skeleton), dispatcher components to
switch from Favorites, and updated “Add to favorites” action to create
`NavigationMenuItem` when `IS_NAVIGATION_MENU_ITEM_ENABLED`
> - DnD: shared `validateAndExtractFolderId` and droppable id utils
moved to `ui/layout/draggable-list`; favorites DnD updated to use shared
utils
> - GraphQL (client): add fragments, queries, mutations, hooks
(create/update/delete/find), and generated types; added
`RecordIdentifier` and `targetRecordIdentifier` on `NavigationMenuItem`
> - Prefetch: new prefetch state/effect for navigation menu items; skip
favorites prefetch when flag enabled
> - Backend: add DTOs (`NavigationMenuItem`, `RecordIdentifier`),
resolver `targetRecordIdentifier` field, service logic to fetch record
identifiers with permission-aware access and image signing,
`getRecordImageIdentifier` util, entity relation to `view`, and
migration adding FK on `viewId`
> - Feature flags & seeding: add `IS_NAVIGATION_MENU_ITEM_ENABLED` to
enums, dev seeder enables it; standard app seeds workspace navigation
menu items instead of favorites when flag on
> - Tests: add unit tests for sorting/labels/folder id and related utils

In our Graphql schema, ids are typed as UUID.
Our FE codegen is typing it as 'any', unless we say otherwise. Fixing it
and fixing the impacts in the codebase
Moves system-level operations (auth, billing, admin) to use the
/metadata endpoint instead of /graphql.
This cleans up the endpoint separation so /graphql is purely for core
objects (Company, People, etc.) and /metadata handles all system
operations.
Part of prep work for webhook/API key core migration.
# Content
- Introduce the `workspaceUrls` property. It contains two
sub-properties: `customUrl, subdomainUrl`. These endpoints are used to
access the workspace. Even if the `workspaceUrls` is invalid for
multiple reasons, the `subdomainUrl` remains valid.
- Introduce `ResolveField` workspaceEndpoints to avoid unnecessary URL
computation on the frontend part.
- Add a `forceSubdomainUrl` to avoid custom URL using a query parameter
## Summary
- [x] Remove defaultWorkspace in user
- [x] Remove all occurrence of defaultWorkspace and defaultWorkspaceId
- [x] Improve activate workspace flow
- [x] Improve security on social login
- [x] Add `ImpersonateGuard`
- [x] Allow to use impersonation with couple `User/Workspace`
- [x] Prevent unexpected reload on activate workspace
- [x] Scope login token with workspaceId
Fix https://github.com/twentyhq/twenty/issues/9033#event-15714863042
This PR introduces an `upsert` parameter (along the existing `data`
param) for `createOne` and `createMany` mutations.
When upsert is set to `true`, the function will look for records with
the same id if an id was passed. If not id was passed, it will leverage
the existing duplicate check mechanism to find a duplicate. If a record
is found, then the function will perform an update instead of a create.
Unfortunately I had to remove some nice tests that existing on the args
factory. Those tests where mostly testing the duplication rule
generation logic but through a GraphQL angle. Since I moved the
duplication rule logic to a dedicated service, if I kept the tests but
mocked the service we wouldn't really be testing anything useful. The
right path would be to create new tests for this service that compare
the JSON output and not the GraphQL output but I chose not to work on
this as it's equivalent to rewriting the tests from scratch and I have
other competing priorities.
